Birgit Sara Mazur is a Wallenberg sphere executive who was head of research at Ericsson and in 2018 joined the Knut and Alice Wallenberg Foundation, responsible for a number of the foundation's strategic initiatives. She attended the Bilderberg for the first time in 2019.

Education

Sara Mazur grew up in Stockholm and attended the Royal Institute of Technology, graduating with degrees in 1989 and 1994 in plasma physics.

Career

She has worked at Ericsson since 1995. She became vice president and Head of Research in November 2012.[1][2][3]

In 2018, she joined the Knut and Alice Wallenberg Foundation as responsible for a number of the foundation's strategic initiatives.[4] Since 2020, Sara Mazur is the chair of the largest research program in Sweden, the Wallenberg AI, Autonomous Systems and Software Program[5] and Wallenberg Initiative Material Science for Sustainability. In 2024, the foundation allocated an additional SEK 600 million for data-driven life sciences.

She was on the board of the Wallenberg family's Investor AB[6]

In 2023 she was appointed to the government's AI Commission.[7]

Mazur was elected 2007 as a member of the Royal Swedish Academy of Engineering Sciences. In 2015 she received an honorary doctorate at Luleå University of Technology.[8]
