Francisco Luís Murteira Nabo is a Portuguese economist and politician[1] who attended Bilderberg/2003 as CEO of Portugal Telecom.
Education
He graduated in Economics from the Technical University of Lisbon a in 1969.
Career
After graduating, he began working at Companhia Portuguesa Rádio Marconi, where he became chairman of the Board of Directors, a position he held from 1978 to 1982. He was also vice-president of Sorefame (1982-1983) and president of Portugal Telecom (1996-2003).
A supporter of the Socialist Party, Murteira Nabo was also an alderman of the Lisbon City Council (1976-1981) and Secretary of State for Transport 1983-1985. At the end of the 1980s he left for Macau, in whose administration he was assistant secretary for Education, Health and Social Affairs (1987) and Assistant Secretary for Economic Affairs (1989), in addition to being in charge of the Government of the territory of Macau (1990-1991).
Back in Portugal, he was Minister of Public Work 1995-1996. Murteira Nabo's tenure as Minister of Public Works in the first government of António Guterres lasted 19 days, between 27 December 1995 and 15 January 1996, having resigned after the newspaper O Independente revealed that the minister had not declared the real value of two fractions acquired in the Via Veneto building in Lisbon, thus being subject to the payment of a lower amount of SISA tax, predecessor of IMT. Francisco Murteira Nabo claimed not to be aware of the situation, as the acquisition would have been handled by his lawyer, and announced shortly the regularization of his tax situation.[2][3]

He was a member of the Board of Directors of Banco Espírito Santo, non–executive director of Holdomnis and Seng Heng Bank of Macau, president of Cotec Portugal-Associação Empresarial para a Inovação, member of the Conselho Superior de Ciência, Tecnologia e Inovação, president of the Portuguese–Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry, member of the Lisbon Commercial Association, member of the Board of Trustees of Fundação Oriente, member of the Advisory Board of INSEAD and chairman of the Board of Proforum-Associação para o Desenvolvimento Da Engenharia.[4]
He was non-executive chairman of the Board of Directors of Galp Energia.[5]
