The Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC) is a government-funded public broadcaster in Australia.

Secrets of the Super Rich

On 4 April 2016, the Australian Broadcasting Corporation's Four Corners broadcast "The Panama Papers: Secrets of the Super Rich" which Craig Murray praised for having “The Australian Broadcasting Corporation shamed the BBC by putting out a Four Corners documentary on the Panama leak that had real balls. In stark contrast to the BBC, the Australians named and shamed Australia’s biggest company and Australia’s biggest foreign investor. BBC Panorama by contrast found a guy who sold one house in Islington. The Australians also, unlike the BBC who deliberately and knowing hid it, pointed out that the corruption centred on the British Virgin Islands, and even went there. All in all an excellent job.” [1]

Iraq war propaganda

In December 2001, the spook and "freelance journalist" Paul Moran made a television interview with al-Haideri, a defector who claimed he had worked at illegal chemical, biological and nuclear facilities around Baghdad[2]. The revelations made about the - fictitious - WMDs were aired initially by the AB, another of Moran’s regular employers. Thus given credibility, the lie was then picked up spread by the rest of the world's corporate media.

Covid propaganda

In 2023, ABC Chairwoman Ita Buttrose shilled for Pfizer's covid products, and also for the Priceline Pharmacy chain of chemists, presumably for a handsome payment[3].

During Covid, the broadcaster repeatedly came under fire after its medical commentator Dr Norman Swan made countless calls for harsher lockdowns, mask mandates and covid boosters - policies that strongly aligned with the government but had little scientific backing. Swan's commentary rarely provided an impartial perspective and he was eventually called out for failing to publicly disclose his financial interest in seeking government contracts related to covid-19.[4][5]

Maryanne Demasi

Dr. Maryanne Demasi is an Australian science reporter and presenter, best known for her work with the ABC Catalyst television program, where she was fired after pressure from Big Pharma. In 2013, she produced a two-part series called "Heart of the Matter," which cited evidence challenging the role of cholesterol in heart disease and the overprescription of statins (cholesterol-lowering drugs). She also produced programs on possible health effects from low level microwave exposure from Wi-Fi and mobile phones.

James O'Neill“Throughout 2020 the Chinese progressively barred imports from Australia, or imposed swingeing tariffs. The professed reasons for doing so by the Chinese were a fig leaf. The intention was clearly to damage Australian exports, and it succeeded, with volumes of goods sold to China dropping dramatically throughout 2020 and into 2021.

It was not just exports that were affected. China was also the largest source of foreign students in Australian universities, a multi-billion-dollar source of revenue. Literally hundreds of Australian university staff have been laid off in recent months. The Chinese government is openly advising students to look elsewhere for their education.
The anti-China policies of the Australian government have also extended to Chinese investment in Australia with Chinese investment proposals now being routinely disapproved.

One of the curiosities of this process is that the Australian mainstream media is almost totally silent on what is happening to their export income, Chinese students and foreign investment. It is uncanny how the mainstream media and politicians are very quiet about the enormous damage being done to their economy.”
