The Fourth Service (Norwegian:Den fjerde tjeneste) was (or possibly in its continuation still is) a group of deep politicians and intelligence operatives belonging to the Norwegian Labour Party who behind the scenes to a large extent engineered modern Norwegian history, including the installing of Gro Harlem Brundtland as Prime Minister in 1981.
Background
By the 1960s as the election patterns changed, the Labour Party could no longer take its perceived right to be the government for granted. As other parties took power, deep politicians and intelligence leaders belonging to the party formed their own network reporting only to themselves, bypassing formal power structures.
