Biography
Born in the Metropolitan City of Milan (Italy), Mozzoni lost his father Giuseppe Ascanio Cicogna Mozzoni at 9 years old, and was then raised by his single mother Gioconda Gallardo. After having finished his secondary Education at Millfield School in England, he graduated at the University of Buckingham and earned a BSc in Economics (with Honours). Once he had achieved his degree in economics, he moved to Italy, where he attended Bocconi University in Milan.
He was selected as one of three applicants out of 10 000 by Chemical Bank, New York, for a specialist training programme. Mozzoni joined Credit Suisse First Boston,[When?]. From 1993-1994 he was the marketing director of Benetton's Formula One team, a career that lead him to South Africa where he then settled, and co-founded Farmpro Farm Management in 1990 alongside Chris Steenkamp. In 1995 Southern Farms was formed a company which then evolved to become the leading table grape exporters in South Africa.
In 1990 he broke off his relationship with Ghislaine Maxwell (who was deeply in love with him). Their affair lasted for 4 years.[5]
In 1994 Mozzoni co-founded Ursus SA, a telecommunications callback company, considered to have been a major rival to the already at the time established Telkom.[6] By 1997 Ursus SA had over 1000 corporate customers.
After having become Knight of the Order of Malta, he saw that he could do more for the welfare of[There must be more to this] the Kenyan people, by negotiating a bilateral relation between the two governments, and so, on July 9th 2008 Mozzoni handed over his credentials to Mwai Kibaki,[7] then president of Kenya, and was given the role of Ambassador of the Order of Malta to Kenya. Throughout Mozzoni's position as ambassador he set out on many charitable quests like his climb up Mount Kenya[8] to raise money to support community health work in the slums of Nairobi alongside many other endeavours like the primary school hygiene project.[There must be more to this][9]
Mozzoni died in 2012 while performing at the Klerksdorp airshow in South Africa.[10] The cause of the crash has not been determined.[11][12]
