Gerhard Alfred Prinz was a German manager. From 1980 to 1983 he was Chairman of the Board of Management of Daimler-Benz AG.

Gerhard Prinz came from an entrepreneurial family in Solingen. He studied economics and law and received his doctorate in the latter. He then became assistant to Hans Dichgans, the managing director of the Iron and Steel Industry Association in Düsseldorf. This was followed by a job at Brown, Boveri & Cie under Kurt Lotz, with whom he moved to the Volkswagen group in 1967. In 1969, Prinz became a member of the VW Board of Management, and in 1973 he finally moved to Daimler-Benz, where he was responsible for materials purchasing on the Board of Management. In 1977 he was responsible for the purchase of the American heavy-duty truck manufacturer Euclid Trucks. On January 1, 1980, Prinz succeeded Joachim Zahn, but died of a heart attack just four years later at the age of only 54.
