Carla Suzanne Denyer is a British politician who has been co-leader of the Green Party of England and Wales alongside Adrian Ramsay since 1 October 2021.[1]

Carla Denyer is the Green Party's candidate at Bristol Central constituency in the UK/General election/2024.[2]

Leaders debate

On 7 June 2024, in a televised election debate on the BBC, Carla Denyer said:

Angela Rayner is right. Keir Starmer has changed the Labour Party: he’s changed it into the Conservative Party.”[3]

Message offering real change

In a subsequent election broadcast, Carla Denyer said:

"The Green Party is the only party offering real hope and real change.
"Let's get four Green MPs to Westminster to hold the future Labour government's feet to the fire."[4]

Background

Interviewed by the New Statesman in May 2022, Carla Denyer said:

"I never thought I’d be a politician. My degree was in mechanical engineering and I worked in renewable energy for six years, specialising in offshore and onshore wind.
"But I ultimately decided that I needed to try to change the world faster than one wind turbine at a time, and 'green politics' was the best way for me to do that. I was first elected as a councillor in 2015. But even though it wasn’t the most direct route into politics, I wouldn’t change anything.
"My engineering background often proves valuable – from interpreting graphs and statistics to asking probing questions and sniffing out greenwashing."[5]
