Virtue signalling is a modern concept. It refers to the action of self-promotion of morality (usually Political correctness) in order to signal their own virtue.
Description
Virtue signalling exists on and off the internet. Usually it is done to overcompensate for bad character.
Virtue signalling is used to create a personal immunity from Cancel culture, though usually unsuccessfully.
Corporate virtue signalling
Companies use virtue signalling to hide their shady business practices.[1]
