Origins
Genie was part of IDT Corporation but was spun off on October 31, 2011 by Genie's founder, chairman, controlling shareholder and CEO, Howard Jonas.

- Genie Oil & Gas which controls the company's ventures in oil and gas and oil shale research and development in Colorado, Israel and Mongolia.
