El Salvador is a nation state in Central America. The name is Spanish for "The Saviour" in English.

Independence declared from Mexico in 1823.
Policies
In 2021 El Salvador became the first nation in the world to adopt bitcoin as legal tender.[1] The IMF have urged them to reverse the policy.[2]
It had the world's second highest incarceration rate, after USA.[3]
