Lars Stig Mauritz Larsson was a Swedish civil engineer and business leader. He worked for Ericsson, before he became CEO of the national train company Statens Järnvägar (SJ) 1988–1998.[1] He attended the 1994 Bilderberg conference.

Biography

Stig Larsson studied to be a civil engineer at Chalmers University of Technology until 1960 when he started working at Ericsson took over. Among other things, he was a driving force in the development of the 1974 AXE digital telephone exchange. He was CEO of Ericsson Information Systems AB 1985–1988.[2] He also developed military digital technology for the Saab 37 Viggen fighter plane.

Larsson was appointed Director General of SJ in 1988 and led the reorganization of SJ from a state-owned plant to a state-owned company with the emphasis on the railway.

Larsson was a member of the Swedish Academy of Engineering Sciences since 1986 and was promoted to an honorary doctor of technology at Chalmers University of Technology in 1996.[3]
