Background
Mr. Smith gained a Bachelor of Laws degree at Adelaide University. He gained a good working knowledge of arabic in the late 1970s.[1]
Career
Mike Smith took a range of diplomatic posts.[1]
On 19 November 2007 Smith took up the post of Executive Director of the United Nations Counter-Terrorism Committee Executive Directorate.[2] It was decided in January 2013 that Mike Smith would stay on briefly as Executive Director.[3]
