Researched the use of euthanasia drug Midazolam in the UK during the Covid event. One of 28 people in the UK to die "of Covid" that day.

Not to be confused with US diplomat Wayne S. Smith.

Wayne Smith was a UK activist who, after his father died in 2013, spent thousands of hours researching the extensive use of the drug Midazolam for assisted dying.

He also started investigation the massive use of it from March 2020, when a new government directive instructed NHS staff how to treat people stated to be dying of COVID. The protocol involved a combination of starvation, dehydration and killer ‘cocktails’ of morphine and Midazolam.[1] Smith had been in contact with doctors, lawyers, NHS executives and government officials about his findings.

On Sunday July 25th 2021 police were called to attend a property "after concerns were raised for the welfare of a man”. They found Smith deceased inside, but were not treating the death as suspicious. The date of death was set as July 24th.[2]

A COVID-19 test at the mortuary showed that Wayne was "COVID-positive". He was one of 28 people on to die "of Covid" on 24 July 2021.[1][3]

Twitter

His collaborator Jacqui Deevoy pointed to unusual activity on his Twitter account, where she "was surprised to see hundreds of retweets, the last being on July 20th. That jarred with me. As far as I knew, Wayne wasn’t a big retweeter – he was a man on a mission with important stuff to share. He wrote his own tweets. I scrolled back but couldn’t find any of his tweets at all. Two friends of his called to tell me that, in private message conversations, Wayne’s comments had completely disappeared, leaving a one-sided written chat, making it look, as one of the friends said “as if I was talking to myself”."[1]

Midazolam

Wayne’s elderly father George had been killed in 2013, at home, by a visiting NHS nurse with an overdose of the drug Midazolam. While Wayne was out of the room, she injected his dad with a lethal dose of the lethal drug. After explaining to Wayne that she’d given the shot to ease George’s suffering, the nurse promptly left. Minutes later, Wayne’s dad was dead.[1]
