Covid

In April 2021, Spain’s top military commander, Staff General Miguel Ángel Villarroya, was been forced to resign. The pretext was that he and other high-ranking officers had violated established protocols and received the COVID-19 jab ahead of time[1], but was probably a purge of reluctant officers, as was the case in Portugal.

The Spanish army was deployed in March and April of 2020, and again in September, when the army started enforcing coronavirus lockdown restrictions in Madrid. 850,000 people living in 37 districts in Madrid were barred from leaving their neighborhoods, except for work and some other exceptions.[2]

By October 2020, the military was tasked with track-and-trace of "cases".[3]
