Miloš Zeman is a Czech politician serving as the third and current president of the Czech Republic since 8 March 2013. He was previously the prime minister of the Czech Republic from 1998 to 2002. As leader of the Czech Social Democratic Party during the 1990s, he transformed his party into one of the country's major political forces. Zeman was the president of the Chamber of Deputies, the lower house of the Czech Parliament, from 1996 until he became prime minister two years later in 1998.
Hospitalization
President Zeman was hospitalized 10 October 2021 for an undisclosed illness. Zeman was escorted by ambulance from his Prague residence during a meeting there with Prime Minister Andrej Babiš.[1] The medical emergency follows one day after the outcome of the 2021 Czech Legislative Election, in which Babiš and his party ANO 2011 failed to secure re-election against the centre-right Spolu party.[2]
