The Mishcon Note
When Victor Mishcon learned of Diana's death in 1997, he decided to let the police know about the "The Mishcon Note" (as it later came to be called) in which Diana confided her fears that she would be assassinated in a car accident. Mishcon informed the Paul Condon, who took the note but did nothing with it and kept its existence secret until 2003 when a handwritten letter by Diana to the same effect was published by the Daily Mirror.[1] Under French law, “removing or concealing” evidence, which could “facilitate the discovery of a crime”, is punishable by three to five years in jail or a fine, leading to suggestions in 2011 that Condon might face an international arrest warrant for this.[2]
Life peerage
On 27 April 2001, it was announced that a life peerage would be conferred upon him.[3] He was created Baron Condon, of Langton Green in the County of Kent.[4] He sits as a cross-bencher in the House of Lords.[5]
