Orlando Letelier was a Chilean economist, politician and diplomat who was assassinated in Washington D.C. in 1976, with the knowledge of - and possibly at the behest of - the CIA.

Letelier was blown up by a car bomb in 1976 together with his assistant, Ronni Moffitt and her husband.
