Il Foglio ("The Paper"), or more formally Il Foglio quotidiano ("The Daily Paper"), is an Italian daily newspaper with nationwide circulation. It was founded in 1996 by Giuliano Ferrara, an Italian journalist, television host, and politician. Since 2015, it has been edited by Claudio Cerasa.[1]
History
The founding editor, Giuliano Ferrara, has admitted that he was a paid confidant of the CIA in the mid-1980s.[3]
Immediately after the Hamas incursion into Israel on October 7, 2023, Il Foglio launched an appeal entitled: "Israel is us". On the evening of the 10th the paper organized a torchlight procession in Rome, to express closeness to Israel. They joined the Union of Italian Jewish Communities and the Jewish Community of Rome. The invitation of the newspaper: "Bring torches. Bring flags. Bring ideas".[4]
