Hamster wheel
(Population control, statecraft, distraction) | |

| Irrelevant matters which are promoted to distract people from more central issues and to use up their time and energy while getting nowhere. |
A "hamster wheel", literally a wheel for a hamster to run in and get nowhere, is used metaphorically to describe an age old tool of statecraft. In the 2020s it has been used particularly often to promote the official narrative of the "killer pandemic".
Etymology
Jonathan Jay Couey used the phrase in 2024.[citation needed] The description of the modern work environment as a hamster wheel [1][2] was possibly formed in the 2000s.[3][4][5]
"Leaving the hamster wheel behind is often associated with early retirement, financial independence, a total escape to the rural countryside and an overall complete life change."[6]
Distraction
The primary function of hamster wheels is to use of people's time and energy, by distracting them from important truths.
Data collection
A secondary function of hamster wheels is as mass surveillance tools, like the rest of social media.
Rise and rise
Distraction is a time honoured part of deception.
