Opinions

Melby is a supporter of both the EEA and the EU, and very keen on multilateral solutions to the world's problems. In 2025 she was selected to become a member of the Trilateral Commission.[1]

When she was Minister of Education in 2021, she proposed to remove history as a common subject in high school.[2]

In January 2024, Melby stated on state broadcaster NRK that Russia is a direct threat to Norway and that "we" must be mentally prepared for war.[3]
