Jak Cordoba Sultana Hayim Kamhi was Chairman of the Board, Profilo Holding A.S. He founded the Istanbul Chamber of Industry, the Economic Development Foundation, the Foreign Economic Relations Board, the Turkish-French Business Council and the Turkish Metal Manufacturers' Union (MESS).

Background

He was born into a Jewish family in Istanbul in 1925. After graduating from Saint Michel High School and Yildiz Technical University, he studied steel construction in France.

=Career

Kamhi, who was a long-time board member at TUSIAD, served for 12 years as the first and only Turkish member of the European Industrialists' Roundtable (ERT).

Awards

In 1991 and 2007, he was awarded the State Distinguished Service Medal of the Republic of Turkey twice and in 1992 he was awarded the title of "Honorary Doctor of Engineering" by Istanbul University. The Order of the Legion d'Honneur by the French government in 1991, commandeur dans l'Ordre National du Merite by French President Jacques Chirac in 1997, King Juan Carlos I of Spain in 2003 he was awarded the Commander of the Order of the Spanish Civil Merit.
