Dirk Stoffberg was a South African spook and arms dealer.[1]

Spook

In March 1988, the ANC’s representative in Paris, Dulcie September was gunned down. Pretoria denied complicity but five years later a notorious South African gun runner and police agent, Dirk Stofberg admitted that he had arranged September’s assassination.[2]

Death

A South African arms dealer linked to allegations of an American hostage deal with Iran ahead of the 1980 U.S. presidential election has killed himself in South Africa, Johannesburg police said on Thursday. Police said Dirk Stoffberg, 58, was believed to have killed his seventh wife, Susanna, during a fight before committing suicide Wednesday night.[3]
