British Council/Transatlantic Network 2020
The Transatlantic Network 2020 programme organzied by the British Council was a network of outstanding young professionals from North America andEurope, drawn mostly from the 25 to 35 age range. Each of them had already demonstrated potential for leadership in their field.[1]
Foundation
In March 2008, the first 30 participants met in Berlin for three days to give life to the Transatlantic Network 2020 programme. Following this meeting, new members were identified through a nomination and application process for the program's inaugural summit in Northern Ireland and Ireland in October 2008.
By 2010, the network has 130 members, but it seems to have been discontinued by 2014-15. The British Council was by then brainstorming on creating an expanded TN2020 that also would include peers in other parts of the world, beyond the US and Europe.[2]
Activities
In June 2010, it held a 6 day summit in Chicago.[3]
In November 2011, TN2020 members were in London to explore the "Future of Localities" with the Clore Social Leadership Fellows at the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation. In September 2011, tomorrow we're hosting a workshop in Berlin exploring the idea of influence. [4]
In Pristina, Kosovo between 26-29 March 2012, TN2020 members and other young people from the Balkans came together to discuss critical issues facing the region that span the four sectors of: government/policy-making, business, civil-society, and media, giving them the opportunity to network with one another and leverage their combined skills.[5]
