Azidothymidine (AZT), also known as Zidovudine (ZDV) is an antiretroviral medication used to prevent and treat HIV/AIDS. The drug, approved by the FDA under Anthony Fauci, wiped out a generation of people diagnosed with HIV in the late 1980s and early 1990s, but not before making GlaxoSmithKline/Wellcome Trust billions in revenue.
