A patsy is a person set up to take the blame for a crime which he/she did not commit.
On wikispooks the term is mainly applied to individuals (occasionally groups) who feature in Official Narrative's as the perpetrator(s) (often as Lone nut gunmen) in crimes with a deep political significance; and where there is compelling evidence that they are either totally innocent or have been engineered/provoked (wittingly or unwittingly) into action as part of a conspiracy.
