The Vanguard Group is one of the three big providers of mutual funds in the world, with over $6.2 trillion in assets under management[1]. and the second-largest provider of exchange-traded funds (ETFs) in the world after BlackRock.

Ownership

Vanguard owns parts in many of the world's biggest companies. Together with Blackrock and State Street, they combined have a dominating (even controlling) share in all the world's publicly listed companies, like Alphabet (Google's mother company), and Paypal. The exceptions to this ownership are some Chinese and Russians companies, like Alibaba and Gazprom.

The table[2] shows only Vanguard's ownership part. The table is German, so it concentrates on German big companies, but the situation is exactly the same in every stock market in the world.
