Rebranding

Spinprofiles was shut down on 21 June, 2010 by Webhosting firm 1&1, because of a profile on think-tank researcher Alexander Meleagrou-Hitchens, son of journalist Christopher Hitchens. Further details were requested but not supplied. The content was moved to a new domain name, Powerbase, which was registered through a different webhost.

2018 Surge in popularity

Alexa's data indicates that Powerbase rose in popularity in March 2018 from a global rank of about 1,000,000 to 600,000. By mid April, it was ranked 439,281 in the world, and 21,192 in the UK.

Wikispooks Acknowledgement

SpinProfiles, now Powerbase was a major source of content and inspiration when setting up the Wikispooks site.
