Site Backup

WikiSpooks is backed up weekly and full backups are published here (~5GB download). This includes all the files needed to run a copy of the site on your own webserver. You are encouraged to freely distribute this information.

Software

Most of the Wikispooks site is a MediaWiki. Basic information about extensions, versions etc. is available at Special:Version.

Semantic MediaWiki

Semantic MediaWiki is one of the most important (and complex) MediaWiki extensions used by this site. The aim is to take the site beyond simple processing of human readable text by marking up the information contained in WikiSpooks as RDF (a machine readable format).

Timelines

Peter is working on adding timeline functionality to the site. This gives a graphic display of events and sub events.

Site Feeds

WikiSpooks has a number of site feeds (currently in Atom/RSS format) which might help you integrate it with other software.

Uploading

For security reasons, the number of file formats which are uploadable is limited. This article lists the permitted extensions. Note that Anonymous Uploads use a different system and are not restricted in this way.
