Carl Miller is the research director of the Centre for the Analysis of Social Media (CASM) at Demos[1] and author of "The Death of the Gods: The New Global Power Grab", published in 2018.[2]

Old adage

The old adage that "A lie gets halfway around the world before the truth has a chance to get its pants on" is generally (but apparently wrongly) attributed to Winston Churchill.[3]

Its contemporary update was offered recently by Carl Miller in relation to The 77th Brigade:

"It’s far easier to put out lies than convince everyone that they’re lies. Disinformation is cheap; debunking it is expensive and difficult."[4]
