Michael Hourigan was an Australian lawyer. He investigated war crimes in Rwanda, abuse in the notorious Iraqi prison Abu Ghraib and child slavery in Romania. He was internationally renowned for his human rights work [1] and especially for his International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda (ICTRC) authorised investigation into the April 1994 shooting down of the aircraft carrying Rwandan President Juvenal Habyarimana and Burundian President Cyprien Ntaryamira which killed both of them together with eleven others and was the trigger for what has become known as the Rwanda Genocide. Hourigan's investigation proved that US supported and sponsored General Paul Kagame gave the order to shoot down the President's plane, but his evidence and findings were unwelcome by the US, suppressed by the ICTR and Michael Hourigan became a non-person. His passing went unreported in the Western commercially-controlled media. [2]
