Career
The career of Schulte-Hillen began when he joined in 1969 with Bertelsmann in the responsibility for the printing. In 1981 he took over the chair of the board of the Gruner + Jahr AG. Six years later, in 1987, he was Deputy CEO of Bertelsmann AG. At the age of 60, he joined the Supervisory Board of G + J and the Bertelsmann AG (both as chairman).
His wife Irene is CEO of the German Music Foundation.
His brother Karl-Hermann Schulte-Hillen was victim advocate in thalidomide scandal.
