Boko Haram is an organisation established in Nigeria, Cameroon and Niger that promotes a version of Islam which makes it "haram", or forbidden, for Muslims to take part in any political or social activity associated with Western society.
The United State government designated Boko Haram as a terrorist organisation on 13 November 2013 [1]
