Own words
I was born in what used to be Czechoslovakia. As a young man, I was exposed to atheism, materialism, yet I immersed myself in French and Russian Romantics. During the war in the former Yugoslavia, I started to shed the atheistic conditioning of the received "world view." Soon after I found myself walking the road with Heraclitus, Socrates, and Plato. I also published perhaps nine books of Czech poetry.[1]
