Marianne Lie was CEO of the Norwegian Shipowners' Association (Norges Rederiforbund) 2002 – 2008, but resigned after the shipowners lost a judicial tax fight with the Norwegian government.
Lie was member of the Executive Committee of the Trilateral Commission.
