The Havana syndrome is a set of symptoms that U.S. diplomats stationed in Havana and other places started to experience in late 2016.

Reports began to emerge that several people had experienced a range of unusual symptoms, including headaches, dizziness, nausea, hearing loss, and cognitive difficulties. Some of these individuals reported hearing strange noises or feeling vibrations before experiencing these symptoms, leading to speculation that some kind of sonic or acoustic attack might be to blame.[1] As more reports of similar incidents came to light, the U.S. government began investigating. The affected individuals underwent medical evaluations, and some were found to have suffered mild traumatic brain injuries.[2]
In response to the incidents, the U.S. government reduced the number of personnel at its embassy in Havana, expelled Cuban diplomats and issued travel warnings for Americans visiting Cuba. Over time, reports of similar incidents began to emerge from other locations, including China, Russia, and Europe. In some cases, individuals reported similar symptoms after hearing strange sounds or feeling pressure or vibrations, leading to speculation that the incidents might be the result of a directed energy attack or some other form of covert technology.[3]
While technology of the kind does exist,[4][5] the US intelligence community, by the end of 2022, officially concluded that the Havana Syndrome has not been caused by a foreign adversary.[6][7]
Moscow Signal
A microwave attack on the US embassy in Moscow did happen from 1953 to 1976.[8][9]
