Maria Putina's little boy

Among the besieged people of Leningrad, today St Petersburg, in World War II, there was a handsome, dignified 30 year old woman called Maria Ivanovna Shelomova Putina.

The siege of Leningrad that lasted 900 days, left some 1.5 million dead, soldiers and civilians, most of starvation and extreme cold that at times dropped to -43C.

The bodies of the dead were piled on top of each other like logs, waiting to be placed in mass graves. One of them was of Maria, whose frozen body was dragged along the street and placed on the pile.

Then someone heard a soft moan and people started looking closely at the bodies until they noticed a pair of feet protruding from the pile, that moved. They quickly removed the dead that lay on top and extracted Maria who was close to death but still putting on a fight.

Maria survived the cruellest, deadliest siege in human history and the rest of the war and later gave birth to a boy his parents named Vladimir.

These soft Europeans, who so readily surrendered to the Nazis in WWII, today think they can crush the resolve and fortitude of a people that had suffered inhuman hardships, but eventually rose up and broke the back of the German war machine, so that the western allies, led by the US, could then stroll into Europe and claim victory for the "free world".

Little Vladimir grew up and became the President of the Russian Federation.
