| A designation applied to surrendering German forces by the WWII Allied authorities. Its purpose was to avoid having to adhere to the Geneva Convention provisions on "Protecting Power" access to prisoners, with particular reference to their treatment, and living condition which were expected be on a par with those of their captors. |
