DescriptionA plane crash in Switzerland in November 2001. Among those killed were famous musicians.

Crossair Flight 3597 was flying from Berlin to Zurich in Switzerland. It crashed into a wooded range of hills near Bassersdorf on approach to Zurich Airport and caught fire, killing 24 of the 33 people on board.

Deaths

Three of the victims were musicians associated with the Eurodance genre. Melanie Thornton was one of them.[1]

Investigation

Swissair, a major shareholder in Crossair, had been grounded a month before the crash as a result of financial difficulties.

The ON says the plane crashed because of pilot error and a controlled flight into terrain.
