Abortion involves the termination of pregnancy.

Official narrative

Abortion rights increase globally — with exceptions

Wikipedia calls it one of the "safest procedure in medicine". When done legally in industrialized societies, induced abortion is one of the safest procedures in medicine. Public health data shows that making safe abortion legal and accessible reduces maternal deaths.[1]

Concerns

When performed legally and safely on a woman who desires it, induced abortions do not increase the risk of long-term mental or physical problems. In contrast, unsafe abortions performed by unskilled individuals, with hazardous equipment, or in unsanitary facilities cause between 22,000 and 44,000 deaths and 6.9 million hospital admissions each year, according to the Guttmacher Institute.[2] Brookings linked unintended pregnancies to reduced financial income of women in the US.[3]

Methods

Methods include, surgical removal of the fetus, pills, birthing the child prematurely which kills it, or alternative medicine.[4]

Mental health effects

Research in 1990s and 2000s linked abortion with an increased risk of psychological problems.[5]

Wedge Issue

Abortion has become an wedge issue for religious, ethical and political reasons. Arguments differ from, "not playing god", to "wanting live babies to have dead soldiers".[6] Abortion laws have often used supreme and high courts all over the world to be written into law or be banned.[7]
