Sam Wheeler is a member of the Manchester Gorton Constituency Labour Party, is a representative on Unite the Union’s Regional Young Workers Committee and was formerly a Momentum Steering Committee member.[1]

Sam Wheeler was a supporter of Jeremy Corbyn as Leader of the Labour Party and made the introductory speech at the launch in Salford of Corbyn's 2016 leadership campaign.[2]

Wheeler was the leading contender to succeed the late Sir Gerald Kaufman MP and to stand as the Labour party candidate in the 2017 Manchester Gorton by-election,[3] but Afzal Khan won the position.
