Originally the "Department of Health, Education and Welfare" (HEW), the DHHS is a cabinet-level department of the U.S. federal government in charge of health. Its major subgroups include the FDA, CDC and NIH.

Timothy DeFoggi

On the 26th August, 2014, Timothy DeFoggi, aged 56, a former acting director of cyber security for the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, was convicted of conspiracy to advertise and distribute child pornography, and accessing a computer with intent to view child pornography in connection with his membership in a child pornography website. The US Department of Justice stated that DeFoggi "even suggested meeting one member in person to fulfill their mutual fantasies to violently rape and murder children." Time magazine noted that "It’s unclear if his illegal activity overlapped with his work for the government." Wired magazine reports that DeFoggi worked for the department from 2008 until January 2014. DeFoggi had been using Tor. In 2015 he was sentenced to 25 years in jail.
