Activities

Oxitec has established partnerships with large agricultural corporations[1] and their investor lobbying groups, especially the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation,[2].

In 2018 their mosquito technology began field trials in Indaiatuba, a municipality in the Brazilian state of São Paulo.[3] Because of their heavy backing, the trial was naturally approved. The results were a catastrophe. Instead of reducing mosquito populations as advertised, genes from their GM mosquitoes infiltrated wild populations, creating a hybrid species with unknown and potentially dangerous consequences.[4]

It released GM mosquitos in Florida in 2021.[5]
