The 4th World Wilderness Congress convened in September, 1987 with 2,000 delegates from 64 countries.[1][2]

George Hunt was present at the Congress and noticed that it had very little to do with the conventional environment movement and was surprised to see people like Maurice Strong, Edmund de Rothschild, David Rockefeller, and James A. Baker."I suggest therefore that this be sold not through a democratic process - that would take too long and devour far too much of the funds - to educate the cannon fodder, unfortunately, that populates the earth." (David Lang, a Montreal International Banker).[3]
