Policy 713 is an education policy in New Brunswick, Canada, that sets minimum requirements for public schools and districts in regards to LGBTQIA2S+.
The policy requires school personnel to respect students' pronouns and chosen names, requires each school to have at least one gender-neutral bathroom, and for parents to be kept in the dark regarding the gender identity of their children.[1] After Premier Blaine Higgs pushed for a policy review, he was protested by students and criticised by the CBC.[2]
One council member said, "For us to put an age limit where the parent is contacted if a child decides to speak to a guidance counsellor to join an alliance group, or whatever it may be that would be outing that child to the parents, which may be hostile".[3]
