Stephen Loosley was a General Secretary of the NSW Branch of the Australian Labor Party from 1983 to 1990, at a time when the state was run by the corrupt Premier Neville Wran. He was Senator from 1990 to 1995.[1]
Loosley is a past chair of the propaganda mill Australian Strategic Policy Institute, where he is now a Senior Fellow, at the same time as he sits on the Board of the armaments producer Thales (Australia).[2]
Loosley served as National President of the ALP between 1991 and 1992, when he was pressured to resign amid controversy.[3]
Loosley is an expert on American politics and is a regular commentator on US elections in Australian media outlets.
In addition, Loosley serves as a Corporate Councillor of the Asia Society (Australia) and on the Board of the European Australian Business Council (EABC). He has also served on the Board of Crescent Capital and on the Board of the Australian-American Leadership Dialogue.[4]
