Ambrose Mandvulo Dlamini was Prime Minister of Eswatini.

Prime Minister of Eswatini

On 27 October 2018, King Mswati III announced in a gathering at the royal kraal at Lobamba that Dlamini would be the country's next prime minister after the 2018 elections; he would succeed Barnabas Sibusiso Dlamini, who died the previous month. At the time, Dlamini had no prior experience in government.[1] He was the youngest head of government in Eswatini's history.

The U.S. ambassador Lisa J. Peterson was opposed to Dlamini's appointment and called it unconstitutional, as he was not a member of the House of Assembly at the time. She also said the appointment could affect the amount of development aid from the US to Swaziland in future. [2]

COVID-19 Policy

While Eswatini went into lockdown in March 2020[3] like most of the world, it is unclear to what extent Ambrose Dlamini dissented from globally imposed Covid-policies, like Rwanda's Pierre Nkurunziza[citation needed].

Death

Dlamini reportedly died in a South African hospital of "complications of COVID-19"[4] or "after testing positive for COVID-19"[5]. His father strongly refuted claims of poisoning, and pointed out that his son was an (undisclosed) diabetic.[6].
