Chris Cuomo is a US journalist who has been named by a range of people as a purveyor of "fake news".
Background
Chris Cuomo is brother of New York Governor Andrew Cuomo and son of former New York Governor Mario Cuomo.
"Fake News"
In 2015 Cuomo claimed on Twitter that "hate speech" is unprotected by the First Amendment, which led to some media reports stating that he was in error.[1][2][3]
In a 2016 CNN segment about the political fallout surrounding Hillary Clinton and the ongoing leaks of the Podesta emails, Cuomo said: "Also interesting is, remember, it's illegal to possess these stolen documents. It’s different for the media, so everything you're learning about this, you’re learning from us." Some legal experts contested his assertions.[4][5]
In March 2017 he was shortlisted by 21st Century Wire for the 2017 Horace Greeley Award for Best Fake News Journalist, but did not win.[6]
He was fired from CNN in December 2021 for using his influence to help his brother, in a clear conflict of interest.[7]
