SpinProfiles was a free encyclopedia of people, issues, and groups shaping the public agenda, similar in format to WikiSpooks. It catalogued descriptions and details of PR firms, activist groups, government agencies and individuals as well as the criticisms that are made of these groups from different perspectives.

Closure

Spinprofiles was shut down on 21 June, 2010 by Webhosting firm 1&1, [1] because of a profile on think-tank researcher Alexander Meleagrou-Hitchens, son of journalist Christopher Hitchens. Further details were requested but not supplied. The content was moved to Powerbase, which has a URL registered through a different webhost.

Current Status

As of 2013, the old domain name, http://SpinProfiles.org currently resolves to http://Powerbase.info, another domain registered by David Miller, home of the Powerbase project.

WikiSpooks Acknowledgement

SpinProfiles is included on the WikiSpooks Acknowledgements page as a major source of content and inspiration when setting up the WikiSpooks site.
