The Turkistan Islamic Party (TIP) or the Turkistan Islamic Movement (TIM) formerly known as the East Turkestan Islamic Movement (ETIM), is a Uyghur Islamic extremist organisation founded in Western China. ETIM's stated goals are to establish an independent state called East Turkestan replacing Xinjiang. The UN Security Council Al-Qaeda Sanctions Committee has listed ETIM as a terrorist organisation since 2002, though the United States removed it from the US list of Foreign Terrorist Organisations (FTOs) in 2020.
