David Irvine also known as "Irvinsky", is the 12th Director-General of Security proceeded by Duncan Lewis.

Early Years

David irvine was born in Perth, Western Australia where he attended Hale High school and the University of Western Australia with honors in Elizabethan history and a Bachelor of Arts degree. Prior to his first government position with the department of external affairs, he was a journalist[1].

Diplomatic Career

After joining the Australian Foreign League service in 1970 he was posted to Rome, Jakata, Beijing and Port Moresby. From 1996-1999 he was a high commissioner to Papua New Guinea [2].
